Josh (조시, Josi) was once a member of the Lions Boxing Club with dreams of becoming a professional boxer. However, after being annihilated by Yu, Josh gave up on his dream and currently works as a bartender.
Appearance[]
Josh is a feisty-looking ginger-haired individual with a well-defined musculature (borne from years of dedicated training) and orange-coloured eyes with orange pupils.
Personality[]
Josh was originally a confident young man with ambitions of making it big in boxing. He was bold enough to challenge K to take him on as an apprentice after being disgruntled by Yu's arrival.[1]
After his crushing defeat to Yu in sparring, Josh visibly lost much of his confidence.
Plot[]
Josh first noticed Yu entering the Lions Boxing Club with K and Manager Carmen while training.
Not long later, Josh boldly asked K to make him on as an apprentice if he beat Yu in a boxing match. Visibly amused by Josh's gall, K replied that he'd make Josh a world champion if he could hit Yu even once. As Josh wrapped his hands in preparation for the sparring match, he recalled the rest of his discussion with K and the trainer's casual bluntness over calling Josh's talents mediocre, even adding that in his short trip he'd seen another person whose talents far-exceeded Josh's other than Yu. Seeing Yu unable to do his own hand wrappings visibly irked Josh.
Finally, the first round began and Josh instantly launched himself at Yu, but to his shock, he could not land a single hit. Thinking of all the effort he had put in until this point, Josh wondered what it had all been for as he continued to hit thin air. The first round came to a close and Josh thought to himself that even if Yu had immense talent, his stamina would still be inferior to his own since it was achieved purely through effort. Having a plan in mind, the second round began but Yu immediately knocked Josh out with an imperceptible shot to the jaw...
Regaining consciousness in the corner of the ring, a dejected Josh came to terms with his inferior ability in the face of real talent. Just then, Yu came and asked if he was up for another round. Irritated by Yu's question, Josh frustratedly told Yu to screw off. However, before Yu could go, Josh asked him whether he knew the person K had said was stronger than him. Yu confirmed that he did and Josh finally asked whether the guy was actually stronger than him or not. Yu looked back at Josh and replied that he probably was. Josh acknowledged the response and bowed his head, crushed.
Abilities[]
In his older teen years, Josh was a talented enough boxer to win youth competitions and overwhelm most of the boxers at his gym.[1] Even K notes that Josh's boxing skill was indeed excellent, with his footwork, punching power, accuracy, stamina and mentality all being exceptional in their own right; by the same token, K makes it clear that while his talent and efforts make Josh a good boxer, he didn't have the tremendous talent required to become a champion boxer.[2][1]
