J (J) also known as J The Sun is the true protagonist in The Boxer.

Appearance

In the early part of the series, J has the look of a man around in his late twenties, with a short golden hair, and golden eyes. He maintains the same appearance during the series' end, however he has the facial features of someone around in the late 30s.

Personality

J is seen as a mentally strong individual. Not much is known about is personality in the series, however he seems to be very kind towards those around him, especially boxers after fighting them.

Plot

J is introduced as the man who showed Yu a path.

J meets Yu in the street, at night, when the stars were shining brightly in the sky. The words he told him became a memorial moment for Yu, which then appeared in his visions.

Later in the series, J is mentioned slightly, until the battle between Yu and the Santorino Brothers, when he stops the brutal massacre by entering the ring. It is mentioned that there would be consequences to stopping a boxing match if any other boxer entered the ring, however there was a different story due to J being the one stopping it.

It is mentioned at the end of Yu's arc that a great boxer, respected by all the boxers, would come back from retirement into the ring, that boxer being J. Which joins the middleweight division in order to fight Yu. After his battle with the Santorino Brothers, J fights Yu, in which he doesn't throw a single punch until the end. The last punch, which was only a single touch, made Yu drift away from the side of darkness and pain, and more into the beauty of life, which makes K really angry and afraid.

It is currently unknown what happened with J, however it is said that he has retired or kept travelling around like he did in the past.

Abilities

J is a really experienced boxer, being able to deal strong blows instantly towards Fabrizio Santorino during his battle. He displayed almost superhuman strength, and also quick reflexes. There is said that J doesn't have a certain fighting style, he sometimes is an In Fighter, sometimes an Out Fighter, and sometimes a Slugger.

Besides his fighting abilities, he is shown to be able to create strong bonds between people and himself. Making Yu pursue him in his path of Boxing, as well turn him from the dark side K has forced him within. As described by Fabrizio Santorino, the first battle he had with J was more of a consolation than a confrontation.

• Every single one of his battles went down in history. Overwhelming the strongest boxers but have furious matches with rookies who finished their debut matches.
